Signs

I have designed and painted many signs over my years as a career artist. They all center around agriculture and gardens, but some have a deeper educational or emotional meaning. Read below....

Manheim Gardens Welcome Sign

In summer of 2025 I painted a new four by eight foot sign to welcome folks into the garden. Our volunteers voted from three different designs, and picked the “All Hands on Deck” design, which represents the diversity and ambition of our gardeners, as well as the abundance of crops we grow on site.

Manheim Gardens Water Projects

In 2019 I created two educational signs for Manheim Gardens. These illustrated and explained two seperate water challenges we faced at the gardens; one that was a result of an underground spring, the other that was a rain catchment system off the roof of a nearby building. The art was printed on waterproof aluminum signs, and installed with simple 4 x 4 posts.

Global One Urban Farming & Nature

This sign was a combination of new paintings and graphic design to highlight a local urban farm in Kansas City. Client provided the copywriting and general approach, as well as inspirational images. They wanted to show their family-friendly vibes, sanctuary for native plants, and hint at their neighborhood jazz performance series.

I showed the client three general ideas for sketches, they selected their prefered choice, and I took it to the finish line. This was a delightful project to flex my painting muscles and as always, paint new plants and animals.

Mr. Sam Memorial Garden

This was a special project to honor the life of a dedicated gardener at Kansas City’s New Roots program. I never met Mr. Sam personally, but his stories lit up my heart with warmth, and made it all the more special that I got to use my art to memorialize him in such a way.

Collaboration with artist Kyra Gross. She illustrated the portrait of Mr. Sam.

Dirt Beast Farm Market Banner

This sign was for a former employer, a local farm called Dirt Beast. I repurposed a lot of existing illustrations and used a rainbow of vivid colors to match the client’s fun and funky energy.
